Royal Highness
‘Royal Highness’ (C-P), a 1963 All-America Rose Selection, is a shell pink Hybrid Tea developed by Hybridist Herbert Swim.
Five-inch flowers on this strong-growing plant have an unusual frost-like coating. Its fragrance is exceptionally strong and pleasing.
Tropicana
‘Tropicana’ (J&P), a 1963 All-America Rose Selection, is already the holder of 13 awards. Hybridizer Mathias Tantau Jr. developed this fragrant, non-fading orange-red Hybrid Tea, which is outstanding in vigor, hardiness, and disease resistance.
Summer Sunshine
A step toward a flawless deep yellow is Hybrid Tea ‘Summer Sunshine’ (A). Combining the virtues of its parents ‘Buccaneer’ and ‘Lemon Chiffon’ this stout rose is free from fading and blotching.
Legendary and Lucky Piece
Joining the ranks of many fine ‘Peace’ offspring is ‘Legendary’ (P&D), a silvery-pink Hybrid Tea which holds flowers of superior form on long stems. As vigorous as its famous ancestor, ‘Legendary’ grows somewhat taller.
‘Lucky Piece’ (MW), a sport of ‘Peace’, is equally sturdy and has similar fine foliage. Fragrant blossoms are a blend of salmon, pink, and gold. The handsome flower form and size of ‘Peace’ are also retained.
Honey Favorite
The new’ Honey Favorite’ is a “sister” to ‘Pink Favorite’ (P&D). Flowers are pink, suffused with gold. This Hybrid Tea has shown outstanding disease resistance.
‘Pink Spice’ (P&D) is another vigorous Hybrid Tea. Tapered buds open into unusual cupped blooms of spicy fragrance.
Columbus Queen
Exhibition-type buds and perfect four-inch soft pink to rose-pink dowers are borne on ‘Columbus Queen’ (A). ‘Charlotte Armstrong’s’ presence in this Hybrid Teas ancestor no doubt partially accounts for its remarkable color. A strong grower, ‘Columbus Queen’ may attain five feet.
Dixie Belle
Pink Hybrid Tea ‘Dixie Belle’ (J&P) has large, high-centered flowers on a vigorous many-branched plant. The bud is slender with a deeper shade of pink on the outside of the petals. The foliage is glossy green.
Balinese
‘Balinese’ (J&P) is an exotically colored tea that varies from warm bronze to orchid-lavender. The fragrance is delightful; a pair of flowers will perfume a room.
Golden Salute
Hybrid Tea ‘Golden Salute’ (J&P) is a large-flowered, exceptionally hardy introduction. The ovoid bud opens to a deep golden-yellow flower. It makes a big crop of flowers and is usually in bloom. Lustrous green foliage covers the tall disease-resistant plant.
Red American Beauty
Hybrid Tea ‘Red American Beauty’ (J&P) carries a great fragrance like the original ‘American Beauty’ rose. Dark rose-red flowers are produced on long stems.
Long tapered buds and large rose-red flowers are borne by Hybrid Tea ‘Helene Schoen’ (P&D). This rose is a strong grower.
Chicago Peace
‘Chicago Peace’ (C-P) is another sport of ‘Peace’ with nearly six-inch rich pink blooms touched by yellow. Vigorous, bushy, upright plants produce single-stem flowers freely and continuously. The fragrance of this Hybrid Tea is light and pleasing.
Hybrid Tea ‘Orange Flame’ (C-P) bears large smoky orange scarlet blooms on an upright bushy plant. Flowers are fragrant, well-formed, and highly centered. Foliage is glossy.
Floriade
Hybrid Tea ‘Floriade’ (A), a sport of ‘Montezuma’, displays the vigor and upright habit of that rose. Abundant flowers of iridescent orange are well formed.
Seventeen
Among the new Floribundas is ‘Seventeen’ (J&P), which bears long-lasting, pink-coral flowers that are good for corsages and nosegays as well as garden color.
A cross between ‘Garnet’ and ‘Fashion,’ its lightly fragrant blooms cover the compact, clean-leaved plant.
Acapulco
Clusters of light orange and yellow flowers, sometimes marked by deep pink, are borne above the dark foliage of Floribunda ‘Acapulco’ (P&D).
Autumn Hues and Bambi
‘Autumn Hues’ (P&D) is a Floribunda blend of orange, yellow, gold and scarlet. Bushes are sturdy and medium-sized.
Floribunda ‘Bambi’ (P&D) is a compact, neat rose with light apricot-pink flowers. Glossy leaves are strongly rust-resistant.
Rumba
Red and gold Floribunda ‘Rumba’ (C-P) is covered with well-formed double blooms. The disease-resistant bush is medium in height, vigorous, and bushy. Blooms are spicy-fragrant
Governor Mark Hatfield
‘Governor Mark Hatfield’ (P&D) is an addition to the growing Grandiflora class. Tall and robust, this long-stemmed red rose combines the abundant bloom of ‘Carrousel’ with the flower form and color of ‘Charles Mallerin.’
Mt. Shasta
Grandiflora ‘Mt. Shasta’ (C-P) has large, long, pointed buds which open to fragrant, broad-petaled flowers. The clear white is beautifully tinged with green at the petal bases.
Blooms are plentifully borne on long stems. The plant is tall, upright, and vigorous with leathery, gray-green foliage.
Apache
Pillar rose ‘Apache’ (P&D) is a fragrant medium yellow with buff undertones. A robust plant that is broad as well as tall, it stands erect without support.
Cheyenne
Another Pillar is ‘Cheyenne’ (P&D), which boasts ‘Queen Elizabeth’ and ‘New Dawn’ ancestry. Light coral to pink blossoms cover 6-foot canes.
Lancaster
Everblooming Climber ‘Lancaster’ (C-P) freely and continuously bears large, fragrant flowers on strong-growing, upright, long canes.
The rose-red color is unfading, uniform, and brilliant. Blooms come singly on strong stems for good cutting.
Red Arrow and Scarlet Ribbon
For gardeners who prefer miniature red roses, foot-tall ‘Red Arrow’ (M) will provide abundant blooms. ‘Scarlet Ribbon’ (M) is a climbing miniature with inch-and-a-half double flowers of a vibrant red shade.
Yellow Doll
Among yellow miniatures, ‘Yellow Doll’ (M) is outstanding with its perfect yellow buds and fragrant flowers.
‘New Penny’ (M) is another new miniature with bright orange-red buds opening to coral flowers.
