Walks and pathways in the right places will help you find more pleasure in working and entertaining in your yard.
Study the overall plan for your place to decide the best placement of walks.

You will need to provide a generous path for visitors arriving at the front door, and you will want one from your kitchen to the service area of the yard.
Design And Size Of Garden
The design and size of your garden may call for other walkways or constructed paths to increase your enjoyment and access to it in all kinds of weather.
In locating and designing a walk, remember these things to help the looks and utility of it:
- Curved lines are more inviting than squared-off ones, but curves in a path need to have some purpose and have them curve around something.
Sometimes the best rule to follow is to take the shortest distance from one place to another with your walk.
Stake out the walk first to visualize its position; give it a few trial runs to be sure it is placed right.
- Be generous with width. Any walk is more useful if it is wide enough for two people to walk side by side.
This means making it a minimum of four feet wide. See overleaf for other inspiring walks.
