Amateur gardeners who like to use their cameras can combine both hobbies in a $75,000 prize contest sponsored by the Associated Bulb Growers of Holland.
For photographs of spring-flowering bulbs, there will lie a total of 1,002 prizes.

The first prize will be a vacation for two people in Europe, with a choice of flight by KIM (Royal Dutch Airlines) or an ocean voyage on the Holland-America line.
Other prizes include Leerdam glassware, Royal Delft porcelain, Dutch silverware, and many rare varieties of Holland bulbs.
Entry Photographs of Spring Blooms
Entry blanks will be obtainable during the fall planting season from retail stores and mail-order dealers of Holland bulbs.
Both black and white and color pictures and transparencies will be judged in the contest. Gardeners may obtain copies of the rules simultaneously as entry blanks.
Flower Grower readers are welcome to write to us for rules and a free booklet on picture-taking (especially prepared by the editors of Modern Photography magazine). Address FLOWER GROWER, 2044 Grand Central Terminal, New York 17, N. Y.
- Although most people will enter photographs of spring blooms, FLOWER GROWER’S picture-minded staff has several suggestions for gardener-photographers:
- Human-interest photographs of bulb planting this fall can be included, and some entrants will make worthwhile pictures this way.
- Pictures of flower arrangements, both completed and in the process of making, will make worthwhile entries.
- The variety of outdoor spring pictures can be very wide: garden scenes, closeups of tulips, daffodils, hyacinths, and croci, and scenes with garden work and tools forming part of the composition.
- Small, inexpensive cameras are just as likely to take the winning picture as elaborate equipment. And a single tulip blossom picture may win as easily as an elaborate garden scene—perhaps more easily.
The contest closes June 30, 1953, but entry blanks should be secured this fall at your dealer. Write FLOWER GROWER for additional information.
