Buell’s Gloxinia

More than 50 new gloxinia color combinations and variations in the form are available in the Buell hybrid strain.

Introduced to the public six months ago, they result from some ten years of continuous breeding.

This giant-flowered strain includes double-toned reds and purples, pure whites, ruffled whites, and shades of blue and lavender. All are available through The Barnes, Importers, East Aurora, N. Y.

Higo Iris

Wide varieties of the Higo strain of Japanese iris are being offered for the first time in America this year by Walter Marx Gardens, Boring, Ore. Although new and almost unknown here, this strain is recognized as the highest development of Iris kaempferi in Japan.

The flowers are very large, some up to a foot in diameter, have rich color and a velvety texture, and the plants have exceptional vigor.

Rose Mediator

An exclusive introduction of Totty’s, Madison. N. J. Mediator is one of the newer garden roses. The color is a delightful coral pink, shading salmon pink at the base of the petals. Each flower contains about 45 petals.

The reddish-green foliage offers additional contrast to the medium-sized pink flowers. It is an orderly plant with clean growing habits, making it a worthwhile addition to any garden.

Miracle Plum

Flavor, great size, molter flesh, and color place Howards Miracle Plum in a class by itself.

Fruits average 2 1/2″ to 2 3/4″ inches in diameter and have thin skin hardly noticeable when eaten. The tree can be grown in a small garden, is fast growing, and bears fruit the third year after planting.

It is also self-fertile, so having two trees to set fruit is unnecessary. Offered by Wayside Gardens, Mentor, Ohio.
